كريستوفر مارلو
كريستوفر مارلو ( 26 فبراير 1564—30 مايو 1593) كاتب مسرحي إنجليزى ، شاعر ومترجم من العصر الإليزابيثي. و أشهر الكتاب التراجيديين الإنجليز بعد وليم شكسبير ، و يعرف بشعره المرسل ، و أبطال قصصه المبالغين ، وموته الغامض.
صدرت مذكرة توقيف بحق مارلو في 18 مايو/أيار عام 1593 دون ذكر السبب. لكن بعض الدارسين يعتقدون أنها بنيت على أساس التجديف، فقد وُجد في مخطوط يعتقد أنه بخط مارلو عبارات وصفت بأنها "أفكار كفرية حقيرة". وقد مثل مارلو للاستجواب أمام المجلس الاستشاري للملكة (privy council) بتاريخ 20 مايو/أيار وبعد ذلك كان عليه أن يثبت وجوده لديهم يومياً. بعد ذلك بعشرة أيام قام شخص يدعى انغرام فرايزر بطعنه حتى الموت. ولكن علاقة مقتل مارلو باعتقاله السابق ما زالت أمراً غير محسوم.[١]
